About Rainbow

Rainbow is a nonprofit, service based organization for girls between the ages of 10 and 20. The organization promotes community service, leadership and friendship in a safe environment.

Not at all. While there are some member-only portions of meetings (similar to a club or sorority), parents and guardians are always welcome to attend and stay involved.gs.

Rainbow was originally created as an organization for daughters of Masons and their friends but today is open to membership for all girls. Assemblies are supported by Masonic Lodges and their members by financial contributions as well as participation in events. Assemblies are also supported other Masonic affiliated organizations such as the Order of the Eastern Star, Shriners and Amaranth in this same way.

The formal meetings and open ceremonies of Rainbow can be found in a book called the Ritual. When a member holds an office in the Assembly, she learns her station’s lecture from this book. By presenting a memorized lecture, Rainbow Girls learn about public speaking and leadership.

A little bit of everything! Activities can include:

  • Community service projects
  • Fundraisers (like dinners, bake sales, and events)
  • Travel within Montana and beyond
  • Social events like slumber parties, outings, and more

There’s truly something for everyone.

Membership

Girls between the ages of 10 and 20 may become members. Girls may join as a friend of a Rainbow Girl and Masonic affiliation is not required. Rainbow welcomes all girls regardless of race, creed, religion, or ability.

The only requirement is that you be ready to make friends and have a lot of fun getting to know the girls of the assembly and helping others in your community.

Rainbow Girls wear a variety of styles ranging from very casual to formal according to what the event is. Montana Rainbow does have a dress code which members and guests are expected to follow. We have found that most girls enjoy an opportunity to dress up occasionally. Our girls often have “formal exchanges” so having a formal for certain occasions need not be a financial burden to our members.

Meetings & Events

Local Assemblies meet twice a month for regular meetings and have activities in between. Most Assemblies do not have regular meetings during the summer months but do hold fun events during those months.

There are three major events each year:

  • Fall Fling – October (often MEA weekend)
  • Spring Fling – March or April
  • Grand Assembly – June (our biggest annual event)

Yes! Parents and families are always welcome and encouraged to attend events and support their Rainbow Girl.
